CLOCK MAINSPRING WINDER FOR LOOP END CLOCK MAINSPRINGS.
Hold winder housing with mainspring loop post facing up.
Place mainwheel and arbor from clock into housing cavity, with arbor from clock into housing cavity, with arbor (depending on length) facing or coming through the hole in the frame.
It is important to have perfect alignment of the arbor with the hole to assure smooth operation.
Slide holding bracket over wheel to hold it in place. Attach the mainspring loop end on the winder post to wind in the direction of rotation determined by the clock mechanism.
Adjust the inner coil of the mainspring to fit the mainwheel arbor. With key in place, wind up the mainspring.
Attach a heavy iron coil (saved from previous mainsprings) or wind several coils of wire around the mainspring to hold it in place.
Detach holding bracket and key and remove mainspring with it's mainwheel and place in position in clock.
Remove wire or iron coil after clock plates are in place.
Use protective eyewear glasses and gloves.
